Food Bank Collection

Sunday, April 16

The Kingston Partners in Mission Food Bank is again accepting non-perishable food donations.

St. Mark's has therefore returned to its pre-Covid tradition of a monthly collection for the Food Bank.  Donations can be left at the back of  the church.

  • Money (your dollars contribute to higher purchasing power)
  • Canned meat & fish
  • Peanut butter, jam
  • Stews, canned tomatoes
  • Baby food, formula, diapers
  • Pasta, pasta sauce
  • Cereal
  • 100% Fruit juice

We recently received the following letter from Dan Irwin the Executive Director of the Kingston Partners in Mission Food Bank:

"I would like to take a moment to thank you for your generous donations. On behalf of everyone at Partners in Mission Food Bank, we want to thank you for your recent contributions of $1,975.00, 43 boxes and 37 bags of food between January 1st and March 31st, 2023.

Last year we were named to Charity Intelligence’s Top 10 Canadian Food Bank for the first time and this year we are thrilled to have been selected to the Top 10 Impact Charities. We are very proud that $0.94 of every $1 donated goes towards our food hamper program.

As part of a generous and giving community, your support with other individuals, churches, schools, businesses, and organizations, ensures we're better able to achieve our important charitable mission and we can continue to suport your neighbours in need."

The Prodigal Son - Tuesday, April 25

St. Mark's new book group will be meeting every two months for a couple of hours to discuss the book chosen for that meeting.

The first meeting will be on Tuesday April 25 at 2:00 pm, in the church hall. After this first meeting, the group will meet in one another’s homes.

Henri Nouwen’s The Prodigal Son will be discussed at the first meeting.  It’s short, very accessible, and easy to get hold of.

Celebration Luncheon - Sunday, April 30

St. Mark's 180th Anniversary will be celebrated on Sunday, April 30, with a delicious luncheon catered by Lionhearts immediately following the 10:30 am Worship Service.  This will be a cold buffet luncheon of glazed ham, smoked salmon and marinated chicken accompainied by winter slaw, pear & pecan salad, Mediteranean pasta salad, potato salad, roles, beverage and dessert.

As the number of spaces in the Parish Hall is limited, pre-registration is required, either by contacting Anne Patterson (apatterson0808@gmail.com), or the church office (officestmarksbarriefield@kingston.net), prior to April 18.

There is no cost to attend the Celebration Luncheon, but a free-will donation to the Tower Restoration Fund will be gratefully received.  As well as celebrating our 180th year on the Hill, this will be our kick-off to our 2023 Capital Campaign to secure the necessary funds for the restoration.
