St. Mark's Strawberry Social & BBQ

St. Mark's Strawberry Social & BBQ

Friday, June 27

For the third year, St. Mark's is sponsoring a public Strawberry Social & BBQ to be held in the Parish Hall on June 27, from 5:00 pm -7:00 pm. This event is a great fellowship experience for the Parish plus a rare opportunity to bring/invite friends and neighbors as an introduction to our church.

The BBQ will be hamburgers/hotdogs with all the condiments. The dessert will be cake, ice cream and fresh strawberries. Vegan hamburgers, gluten-free buns, gluten-free cake, and dairy-free ice cream will be available.

Pre-registration is recommended to secure a place at this social that includes selection of vegan, gluten-free or dairy-free items.

We still need some volunteer slots filled.  Specifically, we need four volunteers to accept the fresh strawberries on Thursday (delivered to you) for hulling, cutting and refrigerating overnight.  The event has been organized for two shifts of volunteers (5:00-6:00 or 6:00-7:00) so everyone has the opportunity to eat with family/friends.  We need a BBQer for 5:00-6:00, someone to serve at the meat table 5:00-6:00, salad servers for both shifts, a cake server for 6"00-7:00, someone to organize and serve at the drinks table 5:00-6"00, a general supervisor/gopher for 6:00-7:00, and one additional person to set up the tables/chairs on Thursday.

A reminder for those bringing cakes, etc please have the food at the Hall by 4:45 on Friday.

Thanks for your participation and looking forward to seeing a full house on June 27 at the Hall.

St. Mark's Book Club

Tuesday, July 8

St. Mark's Book Club will be meeting at the home of Alan Rumsey at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 8, to review and discuss the book "Braiding Sweetgrass".

"Braiding Sweetgrass" by Robin Wall Kimmerer is a profound exploration of indigenous wisdom, ecology, and the interconnectedness of all living beings. Kimmerer, a botanist and member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, weaves together personal narratives, scientific insights, and indigenous teachings to offer a vision of reciprocity and reverence for the natural world.
